My dog is allergic to everything. Not really, but seems like it. We changed her brothers food to something that works for old dogs bordering on Alzheimer’s and Baby Belle loved it. However, it made her break out horribly. It took a couple of weeks with this food and hypoallergenic baths, but got her skin to calm down. She likes it well enough but prefers the stuff that makes her break out. Old guy loves it. If I turn my back after feeding them, they switch bowls. FYI, she has terrible skin allergies, no other allergic issues, and has not had any issues since we initially got the problem resolved. It’s been a couple of months now that she’s been on it.I usually approve of this dog food. My dog has gotten pretty sick, with allergies being the underlying cause. His paws broke out in cysts and he had a heavy buildup of mucus in his left eye, causing him vision problems. He absolutely enjoys it and it has helped in his relieve his allergies. However, my last order came damaged. I am very disappointed that I was not offered a refund. It was delivered with a hole at the bottom and what looks like rat bite marks. There is no way I will feed my dog this! I got a 15lb bag for $90 which is expensive to begin with. Only to throw it away. I would like to continue giving his this food but something must be done about the rats at wherever it is being stored.ConvenienceGood dog food for a dog who has skin alargies.. But just cost so much vs how much you get per bag.Our dog was tested for allergies, given shots at home that were supposed to cause her immune system to kick in which were very expensive and didn't work. Prior to that she was given Apoquel and another med. which did work fairly well, but then didn't. So vet put her on Hill's Derm Complete and she was given a different type of shot that was very expensive, and should work 4 to 8 weeks hopefully. It worked for about 12 weeks, and then started to scratch a little. So on my own I decided to keep her on the dog food and try the Apoquel with it. She has been doing great for the last going on four months so yes, I would highly recommend this food. Anything to keep her comfortable.Hill's Prescription Diet Derm Complete Dog Food, 14 lbs.: Per her vet, this replaces Derm Defense, which my whippet mix has been eating for 5 1/2 yrs. to keep her skin from reacting to environmental allergies. Bag arrived in good condition, with an expiration date of 7/2022. Smells like Derm Defense and has many of the same ingredients, so I'm hoping for a smooth transition to the new food. I mix in another quality brand of chicken and pumpkin dry food for variety and top it with a spoonful of canned food.
